Saint Barbara's Day Celebration 2025 - Hunter River Hotel Maitland
Hunter River Hotel cnr Melbourne and Day St East Maitland
The annual celebration and meeting of the Friends of Saint Barbara Association will be held at the Hunter River Hotel on Friday 5th December 2025, The Hotel is on the corner of Melbourne and Day St's East Maitland.
The Hunter River Hotel has been a
cornerstone of the Maitand Community since the 1830's. I was originally
established as the Maitland Wine Vaults by ex-convicts John and
Elizabeth Mayo. In its early days it hosted shooting matches in Mayo's
paddock and served as a stop for the Newcastle coach.
The Guest Speaker is a well known Newcastle historian, Lachlan Wetherall. he title of his presentation is " The unnoticed legacy of 19th century mining in 21st century Newcastle,."
Lachlan has a website worth a visit "A bit of this, bit of that"
and attend the annual celebration.
