The custom of celebrating the feast of St Barbara has extended to the mining community in Australia. The centrepiece of the Saint Barbara’s Festival in Kalgoorlie in December 2003 was a mining parade, passing through Saint Barbara’s Square and along Hannan Street, and was viewed by thousands of people.
