Celebration of Friends of St Barbara Friday 5th December 2025
This years venue is the Hunter River Hotel corner of Melbourne and Day St's East Maitland. This hotel has been recently renovated but has a history going back to the 1930 when it was first opened as the Maitland Wine Vaults by ex-convicts John and Elizabeth Mayo,
The Guest Speaker is Lachlan Wetherwall, a well-known Newcastle historian, His presentation title is "The unnoticed legacy of 19th century mining in 21st century Newcastle". Lachlan has a website worth a visit: "a bit of this, bit of that"
To attend this event, if not a member. you first need to join the Association. The fee for joining the Association is $100. This fee covers the cost food and drinks for your first Celebration of St Barbara event. You should nominate an existing member as a referee or advise the Secretary that you are not able to do so.
New members are welcome and applications processed promptly,
